Get a Great Deal. Support a Great Cause.
When Subaru owners look in the mirror, they see more than themselves. They see a greater good. So we celebrate our year-end with the "Share the Love" event. Now through January 2, get a great deal on a new Subaru and $250 goes to your choice of five charities. By the end of this, our fifth year, our total can reach almost $25 million dollars. It's a nice reflection on all of us.
Please take a few moments to check out this year's roster of charities expected to receive a collective $5 million in Share the Love event donations. Be sure to tell family and friends about this exciting opportunity to get a great deal on a new Subaru — and support a great cause.

Subaru and United By Blue
In November and December, United By Blue coordinated two major cleanup efforts to help the communities affected by Hurricane Sandy. You may recall from a previous Insider that UBB removes a pound of trash from oceans and waterways for every product sold from their line of jewelry, bags and apparel — and the Subaru Outback is UBB's official cleanup car.
UBB's After Sandy efforts drew hundreds of volunteers who helped residents clean out their damaged properties. The crews shoveled sand, delivered supplies, picked up trash, and more in order to help people recover.

YOUR LOVE STORIES
A Friend Indeed
A week after Superstorm Sandy devastated the New Jersey coastline, I loaded my trusty Forester from top to bottom with pet food. I volunteer for Kibble Cupboard, a pet food bank in Atlantic County, New Jersey. My Forester is seen here loaded to the max with cat and dog food to be delivered to shelters on the barrier islands. While I regularly use my Subaru to cart around my three pups, it was nice to have the ability to load it up and help families and their pets in need.

The First Snow Day
As our spring break had come to end and we were preparing to go back to class, I received a text message informing me that all classes were canceled due to a massive snowstorm entering Flagstaff. We were hit with 29 inches of snow, so I did what any other Subaru lover would do; I grabbed my keys and went for a joy ride in the storm. Trudging through two to three-foot piles of snow, I explored the back roads, stopping occasionally to snap a photo of my burley WRX posing in the snow.

INSIDER TIPS
Parking Lot Safety
While they may not be the most hazardous places to drive, parking lots can be more unpredictable than anywhere else you travel. To help keep you and others safe while driving in parking lots, our friends at Liberty Mutual offer these tips for you and especially any teen drivers in your family:
| • | Be aware: Don't distract yourself as you exit the parking space. Make sure that all bags and packages are secure, children are in car seats, seat belts are on, and that lights or windshield wipers are operating before you shift into gear. | |
| • | Back out gradually: Give oncoming drivers enough time to see you. If possible, pull into a space so that you can exit moving forward or park in areas with fewer cars. | |
| • | Drive slowly: Give yourself plenty of time to react to any possible hazard. Check your rearview mirrors constantly, as a car could be coming from any direction at any time. | |
| • | Look out for children: They could suddenly run in front of you from behind a row of parked vehicles. | |
| • | Give pedestrians in crosswalks the right of way: It's not just a courtesy, it's the law. | |
