The TomTom navigation system includes a 6-speaker audio system with single-disc in-dash CD/DVD3 player, MP3/WMA playback capability, and detachable TomTom with 4.3-inch high-resolution touch-screen. In addition, the system includes iPod® control, USB connection, Bluetooth®4 hands-free phone connectivity, and TomTom Traffic.5
The portable navigation unit docks snugly into the main unit, ready to be removed for use as a hand-held pedestrian device or to connect to a computer for updates and trip planning. The system's main audio controls and features remain operable when the navigation unit is removed.
Connecting the navigation unit to a computer allows downloads of the latest TomTom content, such as free downloads of daily map corrections through MapShare,™ point-of-interest edits, some navigation voice changes, and map colors. TomTom Traffic provides the latest traffic information in real time, alerting the driver so traffic problems can be avoided. TomTom services such as traffic information, safety cameras, fuel prices, and more also are available.6
In the navigation unit, once a cell phone is registered, built-in Bluetooth provides essentially hands-free connectivity. A microphone is built in. The system is easy to use and helps promote safer driving.
