As stewards, we have built a hybrid and Partial Zero Emission Vehicles with SUBARU BOXER engines in zero-landfill manufacturing plants; we are mindful of the wild animals in our own backyard; and we have formed partnerships with green organizations. For example, when air quality in Utah’s Provo, Salt Lake, and Logan areas tested at unhealthy levels, Mark Miller Subaru took action with “Project Oxygen.” Beginning January 1, 2014, the retailer promised to plant one tree for every new or pre-owned vehicle sold at one of its two Salt Lake-area locations, in a joint effort with TreeUtah. TreeUtah is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conservancy and education. THE PLANTING On April 26, 2014, in honor of Earth Day, dealership employees, customers, and friends planted more than 2,000 trees along the Jordan River, which flows through the Salt Lake City area. “We feel that it’s really important to be stewards of the environment and stewards of the community,” said General Manager Jeff Miller. “We are open to having this partnership with TreeUtah for many years to come and expect to have 10 to 20 of these tree-planting sites around Salt Lake City over the next 10 years.” The next planting event will take place in the fall of 2014.
