Total Eclipse of the Heart
Last fall I took my wife to the local animal shelter in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for her birthday. As a couple, we love going to the shelter just to hold, pet and love on the animals there. Having grown up with dogs, I generally head straight for the kennels. My wife, however, is a cat person and immediately on her birthday she went to the cat room. She zoned in on a tiny kitten in a cage full of larger and more energetic siblings. She opened the cage and took the tiny kitten out, only for it to immediately curl up on her neck and fall asleep. We spent the next two hours with the kitten while we decided what to do. Finally, we made the decision. We had to welcome this cute little ball of joy into our small family. Now, she’s an energetic larger kitten climbing all over our house! Due to the timing of our adoption, and our location, we named her for the Great American Eclipse that passed directly overhead – Totality “Allie” Eclipse.
