The Planet Subaru dealership of Hanover, Massachusetts, has passed the $100,000 mark in donated vehicles to the Special Olympics Massachusetts’ Recycle for Gold Program. Involved since 2000, Planet Subaru has helped customers donate more than 550 vehicles to the program.
The money raised through the dealership helps fund training, competitions, and health-related programming for athletes with intellectual disabilities across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc., (SIA) is holding a walk/run August 27, 2011, to benefit Columbian Park playground in SIA’s hometown of Lafayette, Indiana. Part of the route covered by the walk/run will follow nature trails on the SIA site. (SIA became the first automotive assembly plant to be designated as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation® in 2003.)
The funds raised by the event will be used to buy equipment to make one of Lafayette’s parks accessible to physically challenged children. Event organizers hope to raise $50,000, and if that goal is exceeded, funding will be directed to other Lafayette parks as well.
The 2010, SIA Community Walk/Run raised more than $40,000 for the Lyn Treece Boys & Girls Club.
