2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek
More Flex Ability than Ever

11/26/2014

Winter 2014

We heard you.

YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO CLIMB THE STEEP HILLS AND LOOK GOOD DOING IT.

I am a very active person who enjoys the outdoors but had concluded that, to get the fuel mileage and luggage space, I was going to have to settle for some type of "tame" auto not really suited for my lifestyle; that is, until I overheard someone talking about a Subaru Forester he had recently purchased getting 31 mpg. So I decided to go by the Subaru dealership for a look.

Well, to make a long story short, I ended up with an XV Crosstrek. Thank you ... thank you! ... I don’t know of a vehicle on the road that better fits my personality and lifestyle and will also meet my needs in the future. I don’t know if I could be any happier with the purchase!

The XV Crosstrek drives itself and runs so smoothly that you can hardly tell if the engine is running. Today I took it up one of the steepest slopes in our area with five people, and the XV Crosstrek glided right up the mountain, making me even happier with my purchase.

The fuel mileage is exceptional for this type of vehicle! I am averaging more than 33 mpg and one time got 36.6 mpg on a 100-mile trip to the lake WITH MY KAYAK ON TOP! Admittedly, I am someone who likes to smell the roses along the way (I don’t speed very often), but I have made trips with my Crosstrek where I grimaced before looking at the gas mileage and surprised myself to find I still was getting more than 32 mpg!

I am a firm believer in “tooting horns” when appropriate, and I think the Crosstrek deserves a great big ol’ toot! Whoever designed this vehicle must have had me and people like me in mind!

The only bad thing I have to say about this vehicle is that I am spending a lot more money on auto cleaning supplies these days. … I am like a 16-year-old boy who has his first car!

YOU WANTED A SURE-FOOTED CROSSOVER VEHICLE THAT COULD TAKE YOU BEYOND THE PLACES WHERE THE ROAD ENDS.

I wanted something economical, roomy, and safe. Recently, Birmingham, Alabama, was hit with an unexpected snowstorm. The city doesn’t deal well with winter weather.

While many people were stranded, I was able to safely drive about. I ended up being the taxi for several co-workers, took a neighbor to her daughter who has epilepsy, and helped a stranded lady make it home.

In five hours of driving, the Subaru never slipped. Not once. All other cars and trucks were slipping, sliding, and colliding, and I went by unscathed. I’ve never been so happy with a car purchase.

I don’t actually drive the Subie anymore. My wife claimed it. She loves it. And her mom bought a Crosstrek last week. My mom says she’s going to buy one, too.

YOU WANTED TO BE ABLE TO TAKE YOUR FAVORITE TOYS ALONG WITH YOU TO EXPLORE THE WILD BLUE YONDER.

AND YOU WANTED A CAR THAT WOULD SEE YOU SAFELY HOME WHEN YOUR ADVENTURE WAS OVER SO YOU COULD BE READY FOR YOUR NEXT ONE.

Last Saturday I encountered the most severe driving conditions I’ve ever experienced. I had only checked the weather in Rock Springs, Wyoming, which was my destination. I sat in a parking lot in Laramie for 1.5 hours, waiting for a crash to be cleared. I-80 is a major east/west thoroughfare, and at the time the interstate cleared, it was who-knows-how-many tractor trailers and me.

At one point, I was literally in tears, couldn’t see an exit to get off, and I pushed on through. My XV Crosstrek, which I affectionately have named Cottontail, got me home. I think during the tears of fright, 90 percent was mental, and I reminded myself that I was driving a Subaru and I would be okay with caution.

The Crosstrek is a hoot to drive and is our family trip car. Our Forester is the camping/dog car. We put lots of miles on our Subies. Wyoming is truly wide open spaces. We will soon be in the market for another Subie to upgrade our 2008 Impreza, and I suspect it will be another Crosstrek :-).

WE ANSWERED BY CREATING THE SUBARU XV CROSSTREK, BRISTLING WITH HIGH-TECH CAPABILITIES, AWARD-WINNING SAFETY FEATURES AND, OF COURSE, IT’S AN UNQUALIFIED JOY TO DRIVE.

I’ve owned many 4x4s, trucks, and SUVs – American, British, and Asian – but none with the versatility of the XV Crosstrek. These vehicles handle so well in the snow, ice, and rain, all while getting 30-33 miles per gallon. You just can’t beat that.

I’ve loaded up the back with tools, furniture, 60-inch televisions – you name it, and this vehicle just handles it.

Believe me when I say this car is great, fun to drive, gets great fuel mileage, has a terrific body design, is roomy inside, and the best part of it all is that it’s one of the most dependable cars I’ve owned. I now have 28,000 trouble-free miles on it, and it just keeps getting better. I really don’t think there is another car out there for the money that matches a Subaru.

My job is 37 miles from home through a combination of highway and country roads. As you may recall, the winter of 2014 in New Jersey was wicked – one snowstorm after another. But with the Crosstrek, the drive was easy.

As I said, I’m sold on these cars and don’t think I’ll ever buy any other brand. You just can’t beat the value of Subaru.

The two friends at work who purchased the Crosstrek also feel the same. They love the car and also say it only gets better.

Other manufacturers better watch out. If the word continues to grow about Subaru, everyone will want one.

AND NOW IT’S BETTER THAN EVER.

SO WHETHER YOU’RE A CURRENT CROSSTREK OWNER OR YEARNING TO BECOME ONE …

FROM PAUL L

New York, 2013 XV Crosstrek

My wife and son were in a head-on collision a couple of weeks ago. 2013 XV Crosstrek. They walked away almost unscratched! I believe all air bags went off, and it was a pocket of safety around them. Both doors opened without even the slightest hitch. Vehicle was still running, even with engine pushed back into the firewall. Amazing.

I asked my wife what she likes about the XV Crosstrek, and she said, “Everything!” Ha-ha. Handling, smooth ride, gas mileage, smooth transmission, etc.

We live in the country, which sometimes gets 300 inches of snow, and, even without snow tires, she doesn’t complain if I don’t get the driveway plowed. Ha-ha. Another thanks to Subaru all-wheel drive.

FROM BETH Z

Pennsylvania, 2014 XV Crosstrek

I don’t remember the initial impact or the side airbags deploying. But I do remember the sensation of sliding sideways, flipping over, and spinning. The noise of the glass shattering and metal screeching across asphalt. The feel of the airbag cushioning my head, the seatbelt holding me securely in place while I hung upside down.
