The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released the results of its first crash avoidance test for several car models. Both the Subaru Outback and Legacy received the highest possible rating!
“We want to help get the most effective systems in as many vehicles as soon as possible,” said IIHS Chief Research Officer David Zuby. That means a speed mitigation system like the Subaru EyeSight1 driver-assist system that can help prevent crashes at low and moderate speeds.
Subaru EyeSight driver-assist technology is like having a second set of eyes on the road. Two cameras mounted near the rearview mirror monitor the action in front of the vehicle and can integrate four different systems automatically to help you avoid an accident:
- Pre-collision Braking System
- Pre-collision Throttle Management
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Departure and Sway Warning
EyeSight is available on select 2014 Forester and 2013 and 2014 Legacy and Outback vehicles.
EyeSight is a driver-assist system which may not operate optimally under all driving conditions. The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as vehicle maintenance, and weather and road conditions. See Owner’s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. Please remember to turn off EyeSight when going through a car wash.
