Twelve-time Subaru owner Peter Falotico is an artist, educator, and art dealer who lives in Stony Brook, New York. He uses his 2013 Forester to transport art to locations near and far.
“The transporting of art is something I have been doing since I started to drive. Some of the art is what I create, and some of it is what I purchase, exhibit, and sell,” he said.
Earlier this year, Falotico’s Forester safely transported “Hidden Treasures,” a special collection of publications illustrated between 1895 and 1915 by artist William Starkweather. Since Falotico was a boy, he has been a fan of Starkweather’s art.
“The purpose of the journey was to bring 80 rare books and 13 magazines to the Hickory Museum of Art in North Carolina for a first-of-its-kind exhibition. We traveled through ice storms, snowstorms, heavy rain, and fog,” Falotico said. “This being my 12th Subaru and the best of all of them, I had confidence that I would bring the treasures there safely – and I did!”
Falotico’s love for art began in childhood. He explained, “My father was an antique appraiser. I learned the trade of buying and selling art from him.”
When he’s not on the road, Falotico spends his time doing things that bring him happiness.
“I love to put plants in my garden, attend museum exhibitions, and provide love and support to my family and friends – especially Barbara, my wife of over 26 years,” he said. A Stage 4 cancer survivor, Falotico takes nothing for granted. “Every day is precious,” he said. “I live every day enjoying all that life has to offer.”
