Army Combat Medic Charles Stewart served his country with distinction and brought honor to those he served alongside. Stewart was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with Valor for treating and evacuating nine wounded soldiers while under enemy fire and received a Purple Heart for the wounds he sustained. Upon returning home, he faced the difficult transition from the combat world to civilian life.

Stewart eventually reached out to the Military Warriors Support Foundation, an organization founded by retired Lt. Gen. Leroy Sisco to help veterans transition to civilian life. Through the MWSF Homes4WoundedHeroes program, the Stewart family received the keys to a newly renovated, mortgage-free home. MWSF has provided more than 700 homes to veterans across the United States.

We’re not just going to give them a home. We want to teach them how to take care of it.

Their assistance doesn’t stop there. MWSF works alongside them to serve them as they served for us, providing family and financial mentorship. Through this, these heroes have paid off more than $11 million in debts.
