Spring 2015

Consider this: The first car radio was installed in 1930; FM radio debuted in 1952; 8-track players (ask your parents) found their way into automobiles in 1965; cassettes came along in 1970; CDs were launched in 1985.While each format is different, what they all have in common is that each purported to offer drivers more choice, and a higher level of control over their audio experience. They were replaced by better technology.

Finally, in 2001, the digital music player debuted, offering high sound quality and greater capacity. That year also marked the beginning of a long and mostly unhappy relationship between digital music devices and automobiles that was as awkward and forced as a shotgun wedding (but not quite as awkward as 8-track). Consumers have not been shy about asking exactly when someone was going to figure out this digital marriage of music, content, and connectivity.

Well now, SUBARU STARLINK1 has cracked the code. It’s your Subaru – connected.

With STARLINK, drivers now have an entertainment system that provides them with a new level of flexibility, control, and ease of use for an effortless user experience.

The World at Your Fingertips

Available on 2015 Legacy, Outback, XV Crosstrek, and Impreza models, STARLINK puts news, dining, weather, music, podcasts, audiobooks, and other multimedia content right at your fingertips. It’s compatible with both iOS and Android™ devices via either the standard Bluetooth®2 or USB interface – and, once your smartphone is connected to the vehicle’s audio system, you can select apps and services safely and effortlessly while keeping your hands on the wheel and your attention on the road.

From your device, you have immediate access to myriad content choices via various apps. With STARLINK, Subaru now delivers a similar level of connectivity to your vehicle with partners like Pandora,®3 Aha,™4 SiriusXM®5(SXM), iHeartRadio,®6 and Stitcher Radio™ – all working together in a seamless system that gives Subaru owners access to music and information like never before.

On vehicles equipped with the available navigation system, STARLINK provides you with voice destination activation that makes it easy to find your next adventure (no more key-stroking in the address one character at a time). In addition, thanks to SiriusXM NavTraffic,®7 this system even detects heavy traffic and redirects your route. Everything about this system has been designed to operate as conveniently as possible.

Critical accolades have continued to roll in praising STARLINK. Recently, Car and Driver magazine wrote, “Particularly impressive is the clean, logical layout of the navigation and infotainment system.” As STARLINK continues to evolve and add ever more functionality, with new safety and security features coming later this year, the critics are going to have plenty of reasons to stay excited about SUBARU STARLINK.
